WIKIPEDIA - “The 141st New York Infantry was organized at Elmira, New York, beginning August 14, 1862 and mustered in for three years service on September 11, 1862 under the command of Colonel Samuel G. Hathaway, Jr..
The regiment was attached to VIII Corps, Middle Department, to October 1862. 2nd Brigade, Abercrombie's Division, Defenses of Washington, to February 1863. 2nd Brigade, Abercrombie's Division, XXII Corps, to April 1863. 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, VII Corps, Department of Virginia, to May 1863. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, IV Corps, to July 1863. 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, XI Corps, Army of the Potomac, to October 1863, and Army of the Cumberland to April 1864. 1st Brigade, 1st Division, XX Corps, Army of the Cumberland, to June 1865.
The 141st New York Infantry mustered out June 8, 1865. Recruits and veterans were transferred to the 60th New York Infantry.
Detailed service
Left New York for Middle Department September 15, 1862. Duty in the defenses of Washington, D.C. until April 1863.”

Company D - principally recruited from Corning, Steuben County
Company E - principally recruited from Bath, Corning, Thurston, Erwin, Avoca, Campbell and Wheeler, all of Steuben County
Company F - principally recruited from Hornellsville and Fremont of Steuben County; and Dansville, Livingston County
Company G - principally recruited from Rathbone, Addison, Woodhull, each of Steuben County; Tuscarora, Livingston County; and Elmira, Chemung County
Company H - principally recruited from Canisteo, Howard, Greenwood, West Union and Bath, all of Steuben County
Company I - principally recruited from Elmira, Chemung County
Company K - principally recruited from Elmira, Chemung County
